Recently it was discovered that a frozen pipe in the Community Center had caused serious damage to the floor in the north end of the building. The pipe and wall were minor repairs – a new floor was a must! When trying to decide what type of flooring would be a good replacement it was reported to city hall that asbestos was underneath the existing flooring. The asbestos will be removed in the next couple of weeks and new flooring will then be put down. However, in the meantime, it was decided that the rest of the community center could use some freshening up. Thus, a little drywall here and there, some fresh paint, and updated flooring in both the north and south parts of the building will give the building a more modern look. Plans are for the project to be completed in April.
In addition, this spring the Huxley Historical Society will add some improvements to the outside the the community center/park. The society is working with local landscapers to improve the scenery next to the Community Center with new flowers and schrubs. We are excited for all the changes! Watch them all bloom!!!
