The Huxley Tree Board presented an inventory of the Ash trees located within the city park system, along with a listing of Ash trees located in the right of ways during the February 17 city council work session.  After evaluating all options, city council agreed with the tree board’s recommendation to begin the removal of Ash trees located in the Huxley park system.  It was confirmed in August that Story County had Ash trees infected with the Emerald Ash Borer.

The city public works staff has started to remove Ash trees in Centennial Park and will move to Nord Kalsem Park beginning next week.  The tree board and the city have committed to replacing each tree they remove during the process.  The removal process will be spread out over a five year period.  If you have any questions you may contact Parks & Recreation Director Travis Bakken or Public Works Director Jeff Peterson.
